International Business Challenges and Solutions Panel

International roundtable discussion to be held

HARRISBURG, PA (January 23, 2009) - On January 28th, at 8am, the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC's (HRC/CREDC) International Committee and the Murata Business Center will be holding an International Business Challenges and Solutions Panel at HRC/CREDC offices located at 3211 North Front Street, Suite 201, Harrisburg.  Panelists include representatives from Phoenix Contact, Autumn Wave and Moumouni International.

The Murata Business Center is looking to apply for soft landing international incubator designation from the National Business Incubation Association.   The Soft Landing Designation program's purpose is to ensure that businesses entering or expanding into a new country can receive an introduction to that country's business practices and culture.  These programs can speed up foreign companies' learning processes and help them more quickly and efficiently make contacts in the new country and have access to resources necessary for them to meet their business goals (information obtained from www.NBIA.org).

The sole purpose of the event is to exchange dialog with current international businesses whose firms have located to the United States to do business.  The dialog will include a discussion regarding the challenges and opportunities they have experienced during the process and ways to make the transition easier.  The dialog from the meeting will be used to assist Murata in applying for the designation.

"We want to make it easier for international businesses to locate to our region," stated Sheila Himes, VP Chamber Operations, Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC.  "We wanted to put together a roundtable discussion to discover what obstacles and challenges these businesses have overcome.  When businesses in the future decide to establish a presence here, Murata can ensure them we have information that will make the transition less complicated."

The Capital Region Economic Development Corporation (CREDC), is the economic development arm of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber, and is the leading organization for promoting and performing economic development activities in Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties.  The group offers a variety of programs and resources to help attract, retain and expand business in the region.
