Eggs & Issues: 88th District House Candidates Weigh-In

HARRISBURG (September 11, 2008)  - Today, the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC (HRC/CREDC) held an Eggs and Issues event, at the Radisson Penn Harris Hotel & Convention Center.  Eggs and Issues is a breakfast forum that featured the candidates from the 88th District (Cumberland County) 2008 race.  Candidates Sheryl Delozier (Lower Allen Twp) (R) and Margaret Stuski (Wormleysburg) (D) were asked many different questions on topics including gas prices, health care, and the business climate in Pennsylvania.

In regards to the business climate, both candidates agreed that it is severely handicapped by the current business tax structure and that Pennsylvania needs to become a business friendly state in order for the business community to thrive here.  They also both do not support Act 44 - tolling I-80.

On the topic of health care, Delozier noted the current system in the State should be expanded, in terms of the adultBasic program etc., because it is working.  Stuski focused her comments on the need of affordable, accessible health care programs and believes the Healthcare Containment Council and Mcare need to be focused on because they are important resources.

"We wanted to hold an event to offer the constituents of the 88th District and other interested parties the opportunity to hear directly from the candidates," stated Dave Black, President & CEO, Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC.  "I wish both of the candidates the best of luck in the upcoming election."

The Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC serves as a catalyst for promoting growth and quality of life in Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry Counties by providing a unique blend of business, community and economic development and advocacy services under one roof to boost our economic vitality and livability as a region.
