The Capital Region Economic Development Corporation (CREDC), the economic development arm of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber, is the leading organization for promoting and performing economic development activities in Cumberland , Dauphin and Perry counties. The Harrisburg Regional Chamber and CREDC serves as a catalyst for promoting growth and quality of life in the region by providing a unique blend of business, community and economic development, and advocacy services under one roof to boost our economic vitality and livability as a region. At CREDC, we offer a variety of programs and resources to help expand, create, and attract business in the Central Pennsylvania region EXPANDThe core of the local economy is the existing business base. We work to ensure that existing businesses have the resources they need to remain successful. CREDC has an array of business financing programs to help businesses grow, creating more jobs for the region. CREDC’s economic development loans typically have lower than market interest rates, longer terms, or fixed interest rates for the duration of the loan. CREDC administers the Technology Corridor Enterprise Zone, the largest Enterprise Zone in Pennsylvania, and the Perry County Enterprise Zone. CREDC is also a liaison for Pennsylvania’s Business Retention and Expansion Program. Through this initiative, CREDC visits many local businesses on an annual basis, assessing their business needs and getting them in touch with service providers that can help. The Business Retention and Expansion Program can help identify problems facing existing businesses and determine opportunities for growth. With programs offered through our Murata Business Center, the Keystone Innovation Zone, or in alliance with our partners, we can assist start-up ventures in a variety of ways. CREDC owns and operates the only small business incubator in the region, the Murata Business Center in Carlisle, Cumberland County. Murata is a 34,000 square foot facility that provides pre-venture and early stage businesses with support services designed to increase an entrepreneur's opportunities for success. Clients located at Murata as well as those served through its outreach, will increase employment, contribute to the tax base, diversify the economy and increase the quality of life in the region. In addition, CREDC administers the Harrisburg Market Keystone Innovation Zone (KIZ). The purpose of the KIZ initiative is to further encourage the commercialization of research & development at colleges and universities in the Central Pennsylvania region, as well as enhance entrepreneurial activity in the region and create career opportunities for young professionals. When a prospective employer comes knocking, a region must be able to respond quickly with accurate and pertinent regional information. The region must also be able to reach out efficiently, targeting industries and businesses whose needs match the community's resources and desires.
