HARRISBURG REGIONAL CHAMBER
BUSINESS DIVERSITY INITIATIVE
MISSION STATEMENT

It is the responsibility of the Chamber to both internally and externally enhance diversity of our membership to positively impact the economic development of our region. Therefore, it is the strategic business objective of the Chamber’s Business Diversity Initiative:

  • To serve as a "matchmaking" catalyst by helping to identify opportunities for women and minority owned businesses in the supplier chains of the region's entire business community.
  • To build capacity of women and minority owned businesses to better meet new business opportunities
  • To gain interest, understanding and acceptance of the economic value of supplier chain diversity as a "best practice" in business in our region
  • To grow the Chamber's membership among diverse sectors of the business community

These objectives will be achieved through:

  1. The development and compilation of a comprehensive database of women and minority owned businesses including their areas of expertise, competencies, and capacity.
  2. Provide a process by which minority and women-owned businesses poised for growth can be matched with business opportunities with medium and large corporations,
  3. The establishment of a Business Advisory Council representative of the diversity within the region, and
  4. Development of accountability measures to heighten awareness, sensitivity and cultivate commitment to inclusion in the Chamber/CREDC’s programs, activities, products, and services.
